EU-ACME Programme: Over 20,000 Urologists Onboard – But Are You Collecting Your CME/CPD Credits?

The EU-ACME programme has successfully enrolled over 20,000 urologists from across Europe and beyond. However, it’s important to note that only 39% of members actively collected CME/CPD credits last year. This indicates a significant gap in how members are using the program to its fullest potential. Collecting these credits is not only essential for professional development but also a requirement for maintaining certifications and staying current in the field of urology.

Within the CME/CNE/CPD credit system a number of units, commonly called credits, are applied to all approved CME/CNE/CPD activities. The number of credits attributed to the activities depends on the kind of activity.

The EBU CME/CPD credit system

The updated EBU CME/CPD credit system aims to enhance the training and experience of urologists by ensuring that both CME and CPD are equally prioritized in maintaining and advancing clinical and professional standards. By collecting a minimum of 200 credits over five years, urologists can remain compliant with the requirements for certification and continue improving their skills to deliver the best possible care to their patients.
The EU-ACME programme supports this effort by providing easy access to a range of accredited activities and helping you track your progress through the MyCME/CNE platform.

The European Board of Paediatric Urology (EBPU) regulations

The European Board of Paediatric Urology (EBPU) has established specific guidelines for the number of CME/CPD credits required for specialists in paediatric urology. These regulations ensure that paediatric urologists maintain the necessary skills and knowledge to provide the highest standard of care for children with urological conditions.
For paediatric urologists, meeting the EBPU’s CME/CPD credit requirements—a total of 250 credits with 125 credits in paediatric urology—is vital for maintaining expertise in the field. The EU-ACME programme provides the tools to track and register all relevant educational activities, helping paediatric urology specialists stay compliant with the EBPU regulations and continue to enhance their skills for the benefit of their young patients.

The EU-ACME programme provides access to the online CME/CNE/CPD portfolio (MyCME/CNE), allowing its members to check and register activities at any time. Many members have already used our online system and registered activities attended in 2024.
The EU-ACME office collects and registers events and activities until 31st January 2025.
