The RCC Quest features 15 questions related to the emerging therapeutic options and evolving treatment of kidney cancer.
The RCC Quest is a mobile device-friendly game developed according to evidence-based medicine and incorporating the most recent treatment guidelines in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). It builds on the success of the I-O Challenger for bladder cancer, the first web game developed by the SIU, in 2019. Focusing on kidney cancer, the RCC Quest covers the latest advances and recommendations on important issues in the treatment of RCC, while promoting active participation and learning. In addition to providing an engaging CME-accredited activity to physicians and trainees, the RCC Quest also serves as an important evaluation tool of the educational needs of urologists, particularly in terms of immunotherapy (I-O) awareness and education.
The RCC Quest is a medieval-themed game. Participants play as Dr. Knight, the main character who climbs to the top of a fantasy-style hospital tower to treat Prince Renaldo, a patient with kidney cancer. The premise of the game is to save Prince Renaldo by delivering a new kidney, which requires participants to answer questions related to the management of RCC. The
game has three levels: easy, moderate, and difficult. There are five questions per level. Each question is categorized and tagged in the backend programming based on the following themes: a) Drug Class and Mechanism of Action (MOA), b) Clinical Trials and Drug Efficacy, c) Treatment Selection, d) Adverse Events and e) Non-Clear Cell RCC. The participants answer to each of the questions are tracked and saved in a database. The top contenders are listed in the leaderboard that is shown on the games website (https://rccquest.org/leaderboard/). The demographics of the participants are also obtained prior to starting the game, following acceptance of the SIU Terms of Conditions. At the end of the
game, participants are also asked to provide their feedback regarding game enjoyment via five multiple choice questions.
